Mu Cang Chai Vietnam: A Journey to the Heart of Nature's Beauty

TRIP ITINERARY

Travel to Northwest part of Vietnam and reach the remote destinations. You will have plenty of opportunities to capture good portraits and lives of local communities from different ethnic minority groups.

DAY 1: Hanoi - Da Bac

Our staff will pick you up at 8:00 am from your hotel in Hanoi. It takes around 2.5 hours – 3 hours for transfer Hanoi to Sung village. Upon your arrival, you will hike to explore sung Cave and then have lunch at a local homestay.

DAY 2: Da Bac

After breakfast, you can hike around Sung village where you will visit also the brocade group and learn some dying techniques from the Dao people. Spend time talking to the locals about how they raise the lish and sharing about their lives.

DAY 3: Sung village - Phu Mau, Van Ho

Transfer to Phu Mau, Van Ho today to explore a remote highland community, known for its quiet atmosphere, dramatic mountain landscapes, and authentic ethnic minority life.Here, you can meet and take photos of The Thai people (especially White Thai) are the dominant community in the village, known for their rich traditional culture, stilt-house architecture, Xoe dance, bamboo dance, and unique music traditions.

DAY 4: Van Ho - Tà Số

On this day, continue your journey to Tà Số, another remote area that is inhabited primarily by the Hmong (Mông) ethnic group, with Thai communities living in nearby valleys, creating a rich cultural and visual landscape.

DAY 5: Full day in Tà Số and surrounding villages

Spend a full day in Tà Số and surrounding villages, capturing daily life and landscapes through photography.You can walk between small hamlets, documenting traditional farming practices, corn growing, hand embroidery and quiet interactions within the community.

DAY 6: Tà Số - Ngọc Chiến - Nậm Nghiệp

Today, your journey continue to Ngoc Chien, a serene highland valley in Son La, home mainly to the Thai ethnic group. Photographers can capture traditional stilt houses, expansive rice fields, and daily village life, set against a backdrop of surrounding mountains

DAY 7: Visit around Nam Nghiep villages

Nam Nghiep Village is located at an altitude of 2,000 to 2,300 metres above sea level, about 12km from the centre of Ngoc Chien Commune. The village has 135 H’Mong households.Many other localities in the northern mountainous region also grow ‘son tra’ trees, but Nam Nghiep has become known as the capital of ‘son tra’ flowers with its more than 1,200 hectares.Here, we will take you around the village, get to know the people and have a plenty of opportunities to take the photos of people in their daily lives such as: H’Mong people in their colorful customs, H’Mong people in the field, H’Mong people in their kitchen, kids playing around and running around ….Besides the people, you can also take photos of the beautiful landscape here and the peaceful villages.

DAY 8: Nam Nghiep - Mu Cang Chai - Khau Pha - Lim Mong

Depart from Nam Nghiep towards Mu Cang Chai, home of many ethnic minority groups such as H’Mong, Dao and Thai. We can take you visit the houses of different ethnic minority groups so that you understand more about their architectures and how people from each minority group is living.Taking this opportunity as well to portrait these people in their daily lives in the remote villages where the people and nature weaves into a beautiful rythm.

DAY 9: Mu Cang Chai

Continue to discover villages such as Lim Thai and La Pan Tan. Please be noted as well, these villages are well-known for its beautiful rice terrace so you can take wonderful photos of the rice terraces as well.

DAY 10: Mu Cang Chai - Tan Son, Phu Tho

Today, we will start with dramatic mountain landscapes, terraced rice fields, misty valleys, and golden-hour, then shifting into rich cultural storytelling. Tan Son is a remote mountainous district home to 19 ethnic groups, with ethnic minorities making up over 83.5% of the population, offering authentic portrait and daily-life moments.

DAY 11: Long Coc Tra

Photo opportunity – Tea farmer picking tea in the early morning – The Long Coc tea hills in Vietnam are a mesmerizing sight, stretching endlessly toward the horizon like a living canvas painted by the skilled hands of local farmers over generations. This is especially beautiful in the early morning when the sun starts to shine over the midst creating layers of mysterical landscape.
To capture this, we need to start early in the morning. After that, you can also take photos of tea farmers picking the tea leaves or transporting tea back home.
Please be noted that, depending on the date and day, there will be local markets. Therefore, during the trip, we can visit many local markets where different ethnic minorities meet and trade local products.The itinerary is subject to change or cancellation due to weather conditions.

    Well what can I say about my Ha Chiang loop trip I did with Yesd. They were excellent from start to finish. As a 54 year old man I did the loop solo with my driver Chinh as I wanted to avoid the happy water and karaoke aspect. Chinh understood this perfectly and took me on a fabulous trip. We took local routes when he could, avoiding some of main routes.     A memory for life

    An amazing experience! Incredible guides! You almost feel privileged compared to other groups. The accommodation is top-notch; the house, the welcome, the meals—everything is perfect. The mountain trek is magical, the motorbike trek is insane (beware of sore bums by the end!), incredible views the whole time, and super enriching stories.
