Follow the full Northern Vietnam route from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, Y Ty, Ha Nhi villages, Ta Giang Phinh, Sapa, Fansipan Peak, Mu Cang Chai, Nghia Lo, Suoi Giang, and back to Hanoi.

Day 1 Noi Bai Airport – Hanoi
Noi Bai Airport

Upon arrival, your tour guide and driver meet you at Noi Bai Airport and transfer you directly to your hotel in Hanoi. The journey usually takes about 45 minutes.

Day 2 Hanoi – Ninh Binh – Thung Nham – Bich Dong – Tam Coc – Mua Cave
Hanoi Hotel

Be ready at 7:30 AM. Your guide and driver pick you up at your hotel and travel from Hanoi to Ninh Binh, about 100 kilometers away.

Thung Nham Bird Garden

Visit Thung Nham Bird Garden, a large nature reserve in the Trang An landscape complex, known for fresh mountain air, forest scenery, and peaceful wetland surroundings.

Bich Dong Pagoda

Continue to Bich Dong Pagoda, a historical and cultural site in the Tam Coc scenic area, surrounded by limestone mountains and spiritual scenery.

Tam Coc

In the afternoon, visit Tam Coc by sampan boat and travel through the river landscape often known as “Halong Bay on land.”

Mua Cave Mountain

Bike or travel by car to Mua Cave, then climb more than 500 steps for a panoramic view over Ninh Binh, Trang An, and the Tam Coc landscape.

Day 4 Ninh Binh – Lao Cai – Y Ty – A Mu Sung Landmark

After breakfast, travel by highway from Ninh Binh to Lao Cai. After arriving, continue more than 30 kilometers toward Y Ty, where your guide meets you.

Y Ty

Discover Y Ty, a highland area known for clouds, terraced fields, ethnic diversity, mountain views, and the cultural identity of H’Mong, Ha Nhi, Dao, and Kinh communities.

Lung Po Flagpole and A Mu Sung

Visit Lung Po Flagpole in A Mu Sung Commune, near the first place where the Red River flows into Vietnamese territory.

Y Ty Clouds Homestay

Stay at Y Ty Clouds Homestay, built on a small hill overlooking the valley and connected to the culture, hospitality, and identity of the Ha Nhi people.

Day 5 Ha Nhi Ethnic Hamlets – A Lu – Bat Xat
Ha Nhi Ethnic Hamlets

After breakfast, visit local ethnic hamlets and learn about the Ha Nhi people’s traditional “Trinh Tuong” earth houses, built with thick clay walls and grass-covered roofs.

A Lu and Ngai Thau Area

Continue through the Bat Xat highland area, where villages, terraced fields, and mountain scenery show a quieter side of Northern Vietnam away from urbanized tourism.

Bat Xat Town

Spend the night at a hotel in Bat Xat Town after a day focused on Ha Nhi village culture, earth-house architecture, and highland landscapes.

Day 6 Khoang Hamlet – Ta Giang Phinh – Sapa

Learn about hemp weaving from Black H’Mong women and observe traditional indigo dyeing techniques during the trekking route.

Enjoy a free day in Sapa at your own pace. Overnight at the same homestay in Sapa.

Day 8 Sapa – Fansipan Peak – O Quy Ho Pass – Mu Cang Chai
Fansipan Peak

After breakfast and check-out, visit Fansipan Peak with your guide and driver. Fansipan is the highest mountain in the Indochina Peninsula and is known as the “Roof of Indochina.”

Muong Hoa Valley

Reach the peak by cable car and train through Muong Hoa Valley, with wide views of the rice valley and surrounding mountain scenery.

O Quy Ho Pass

In the afternoon, travel toward Mu Cang Chai and cross O Quy Ho Pass, one of Northern Vietnam’s most dramatic mountain passes.

Tan Uyen Tea Hills

Pass through Tan Uyen District, visit the tea plantation, learn about the local tea-making process, and taste the area’s green tea.

Mu Cang Chai

Arrive in Mu Cang Chai and stay overnight after a scenic transfer through mountains, valleys, tea hills, and highland roads.

Day 9 Mu Cang Chai – Khau Pha Pass – La Pan Tan – Nghia Lo
Khau Pha Pass

After breakfast, travel toward Nghia Lo and cross Khau Pha Pass, a scenic mountain road with viewpoints over Lim Mong, Lim Thai Village, and the paragliding area.

La Pan Tan Village and Raspberry Hill

Visit La Pan Tan Village and Raspberry Hill, famous for large rice terraces shaped by generations of H’Mong farming communities.

San Nhu Village

Depending on your fitness, health, and weather, you may hike to San Nhu Village for sunset views over terraced rice fields. The hike is quite steep.

Pu Nhu Waterfall and Mo Waterfall

Where road access is limited, short hikes may be required to reach waterfall viewpoints such as Pu Nhu Waterfall and Mo Waterfall.

Nghia Lo

Continue to Nghia Lo and stay overnight at a hotel after the Mu Cang Chai rice terrace and waterfall route.

Day 10 Nghia Lo – Suoi Giang – Hanoi
Suoi Giang Commune

After breakfast and check-out, visit Suoi Giang Commune in Van Chan District to see ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees and learn about the highland tea culture.

Hanoi

Head back to Hanoi, where the 10-day Ninh Binh, Sapa, Mu Cang Chai, and Hanoi journey ends.
