Nam Dinh Explorer Tour Schedule

Follow the route from Hanoi to Tran Temple, Xuan Thuy National Park, Hai Ly, and back to Hanoi.

Day 1 HANOI – TRAN TEMPLE – XUAN THUY NATIONAL PARK

To start our Nam Dinh Explorer tour, at 8 AM, we’ll leave Hanoi for Xuan Thuy National Park, Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Ramsar Site – meaning it is a wetland of unique international importance. On the way, we’ll visit the Tran Temple in Nam Dinh, where the kings of the Tran Dynasty are worshipped.

Then, Xuan Thuy National Park is 12,000 hectares and features an amazing array of biodiversity. We’ll have lunch with a local family. As we explore Xuan Thuy, you’ll have an opportunity to see many different types of animals. The park is especially known for its many species of birds, including the rare spoonbill stork and Saunders’ Gull. We’ll hop aboard a small boat to explore the wetlands further and have lots of opportunities to take great photos.

We’ll overnight in a guesthouse in the park.

Day 2 XUAN THUY NATIONAL PARK – HAI LY

After breakfast, we’ll again explore the Xuan Thuy National Park, walking through the natural and human-constructed habitats along the dike system. We’ll then stop for lunch and then transfer to Hai Ly.

This area is home to many Christians and unique churches, including some churches on the coast that have started to fall due to the rising sea levels and landscape offer tourists some fantastic photo opportunities, especially early in the morning and in the late afternoon when the ‘golden hour’ lighting is just right. In the afternoon you’ll get to see the salt-making process and meet the local women workers.

At night, you’ll stay with a local family where you can learn how to cook some Vietnamese food and enjoy dinner.

Day 3 HAI LY – HANOI

On the last day of your Nam Dinh Explorer tour, you will wake up early to join the fisherman. You can try your hand at catching some fish and take some great photos. We’ll then return to the homestay for breakfast. There will then be time to explore the local area by bicycle, cycling through the salt fields and along the beach. Lunch will be at a local restaurant and you’ll then return to Hanoi, arriving back at about 6 PM.

    What Travelers Say About YESD

Real stories from travelers who joined YESD for authentic, responsible, and locally connected travel experiences in Vietnam.

Ha Chiang loop for an old boy

Well what can I say about my Ha Chiang loop trip I did with Yesd. They were excellent from start to finish. As a 54 year old man I did the loop solo with my driver Chinh as I wanted to avoid the happy water and karaoke aspect. Chinh understood this perfectly and took me on a fabulous trip. We took local routes when he could, avoiding some of main routes. He kept ahead of the ‘Mongolian army’ as he called the throngs of other loopers and often arrived at view points before they arrived …

The activities took place in breathtaking landscapes and gave us the opportunity to learn firsthand about the traditions and lifestyle of the local communities. The team was very attentive and took care of every detail to ensure we enjoyed our stay to the fullest.
Realmente lo recomiendo! es una manera hermosa de descubrir Ha Giang y, al mismo tiempo, contribuir a un turismo responsable.

    A memory for life

An amazing experience! Incredible guides! You almost feel privileged compared to other groups. The accommodation is top-notch; the house, the welcome, the meals—everything is perfect. The mountain trek is magical, the motorbike trek is insane, incredible views the whole time, and super enriching stories. Thank you again to the entire YESD Travel team; they are truly wonderful people.
