TRIP ITINERARY

day 1: Ha Noi - Van Don - Dong Trong Cave - Dong Trong Mountain

You’ll be picked up from your hotel around 8:00 A.M. and take a three-and-a-half-hour journey by shared limousine to Van Don District (There’ll be a quick rest stop on the way). Once arriving in Van Don, you will stop at a local restaurant to have lunch with fresh and flavorful seafood.

In the afternoon, get ready to visit Dong Trong Cave in Dong Trong Island, which is only 10 minutes away from Cai Rong port by motorboat. The cave imprints the vestiges of the ancient Vietnamese people who lived here over 4000 years ago, with an array of rock formations of various shapes including happy Buddha, Jesus, and four holy animals in Vietnamese culture. From the top of Dong Trong Mountain, you can enjoy the majestic scenery of Bai Tu Long Bay and beyond, the Ha Long Bay.

Next, get on the boat and visit the nearby fishing village to have a glimpse into the life of local fishermen and learn about how to raise oysters. You can find yourself as the only tourist compared to the busy floating villages in the Halong Bay area.

Back to the mainland and spend the night in a hotel in Van Don.

day 2: Cai Rong - Quan Lan Island - Eo Gio - HIDDEN BEACHES - Doi Vo Cuc

After breakfast, head to the Cai Rong port to transfer to Quan Lan Island by speed boat. On the way to the island, you will witness memorizing landscapes that cannot be seen elsewhere such as floating oyster farms, countless karst mountains isolated by the endless sea, and the famous Bai Tu Long Bay.

You will arrive at the Minh Chau port after 45 minutes on the speedboat and set foot on the island. Quan Lan Island is a true paradise for those who would like to get away from the bustle and hustle of the tourist crowd. There are lots to explore, including white sandy beaches, historical sites of temples and pagodas, and spectacular viewpoints toward the sea.

First, check in at Quan Lan’s Wind Strait (Eo Gio) – the most famous viewpoint on the island. You will be amazed when you reach the strait, the combination of sunshine, blowing salty wind running through your hair, and a breathtaking view toward Quan Lan beach and seashore.

Your day keeps on with the visit to the two most beautiful pristine beaches – Son Hao and Bien Ngoc. Lying down by the white sand, immersing yourself in the sea to escape the heat of the summer. Lunch will be served in the town center or in a local restaurant by the beach. After that, you can also join the locals in the “hunting” for peanut worms, snails, and clams on the beaches.

End of the day with the visit to Infinity Hill (Doi Vo Cuc) – a newfound destination that’s worth a visit. There’s nothing better than sitting by the edge of the mountain with a cold drink in your hand, staring at the bright orange horizon colored by the sunset, and finding your inner peace.

Day 3: Cycling to Minh Chau beach - Minh Chau port - Ha Noi

Your day will start with the cycling route across the island to Minh Chau Beach – the most famous beach on the island.

On the way, we will stop at Quan Lan communal house and listen to the prolonged history of the island and tutelary spirits – the ones that are hailed as the founding fathers of the island. Learn about the history of the Mongol Invasion in the 13th century during the Tran Dynasty when visiting the temple of General Tran Khanh Du – the general who led the people of Van Don to protect their motherland against the Mongols during the war.

After lunch, say goodbye to the island and head to Minh Chau port to depart back to Cai Rong port in Van Don. Get on your shared limousine and head back to Ha Noi.

The itinerary is subject to change or cancellation due to weather conditions.

  • Included: English-speaking tour guide. Meals. Speedboat tickets. Ground transport. 1 water bottle per day per person.

Ha Chiang loop for an old boy

Well what can I say about my Ha Chiang loop trip I did with Yesd. They were excellent from start to finish. As a 54 year old man I did the loop solo with my driver Chinh as I wanted to avoid the happy water and karaoke aspect. Chinh understood this perfectly and took me on a fabulous trip. We took local routes when he could, avoiding some of main routes. He kept ahead of the ‘Mongolian army’ as he called the throngs of other loopers and often arrived at view points before they arrived …

    A memory for life

An amazing experience! Incredible guides! You almost feel privileged compared to other groups. The accommodation is top-notch; the house, the welcome, the meals—everything is perfect. The mountain trek is magical, the motorbike trek is insane (beware of sore bums by the end!), incredible views the whole time, and super enriching stories. It really puts things into perspective compared to our European comforts—it feels great! To conclude this review, thank you again to the entire YESD Travel team; they are truly wonderful people.
