TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1: Hanoi – Tran Temple - Xuan Thuy National Park

To start our Nam Dinh Explorer tour, at 8 AM, we’ll leave Hanoi for Xuan Thuy National Park, Southeast Asia’s first UNESCO Ramsar Site – meaning it is a wetland of unique international importance. On the way, we’ll visit the Tran Temple in Nam Dinh, where the kings of the Tran Dynasty are worshipped.
Then, Xuan Thuy National Park is 12,000 hectares and features an amazing array of biodiversity. We’ll have lunch with a local family. As we explore Xuan Thuy, you’ll have an opportunity to see many different types of animals. The park is especially known for its many species of birds, including the rare spoonbill stork and Saunder’s Gull. We’ll hop aboard a small boat to explore the wetlands further and have lots of opportunities to take great photos.
We’ll overnight in a guesthouse in the park.

Day 2: Xuan Thuy National Park – Hai Ly

After breakfast, we’ll again explore the Xuan Thuy National Park, walking through the natural and human-constructed habitats along the dike system. We’ll then stop for lunch and then transfer to Hai Ly.
This area is home to many Christians and unique churches, including some churches on the coast that have started to fall due to the rising sea levels. This landscape offers tourists some fantastic photo opportunities, especially early in the morning and in the late afternoon when the “golden hour” lighting is just right. In the afternoon you’ll get to see the salt-making process and meet the local women workers.
At night, you’ll stay with a local family where you can learn how to cook some Vietnamese food and enjoy dinner.

Day 3: Hai Ly - Hanoi

On the last day of your Nam Dinh Explorer tour, you will wake up early to join the fisherman. You can try your hand at catching some fish and take some great photos. We’ll then return to the homestay for breakfast. There will then be time to explore the local area by bicycle, cycling through the salt fields and along the beach. Lunch will be at a local restaurant and you’ll then return to Hanoi, arriving back at about 6 PM.
The itinerary is subject to change or cancellation due to weather conditions.
  • Included: Ground transport, English-speaking guide, accommodation, activities & meals mentioned above.
  • Not included: Airfares, visa fees, travel insurance, gratuities, personal expenses & all other services not clearly mentioned above.

“YESD was a dream to work with. When I travel, I often crave for more authentic, local experience and YESD truly delivered. They helped me tailor an itinerary that suited my interests, stayed in memorable homestays, ate scrumptious dinners (as what a local would eat), and made it easy to connect with the locals. We did Ha Giang, Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh with them.
Nam Dinh is not quite touristy (yet!!) but I assure you that YESDD will make sure it’s a memorable one. Having visited a few cities and villages in North and Central Vietnam, Nam Dinh has got to be my favorite destination for the trip — having seen farmers in action at the salt fields, boat ride in the national park, clam hunting during sunset…
Don’t hesitate to book with YesD! Big shoutout to Tuyet for creating an amazing itinerary for us!” See more.
