ABOUT THE PROJECT

The YESD medical project, “YESynDrome”, aims to partner with international medical organizations to provide general check-up services for ethnic minority groups in the mountainous region of Ha Giang.

Project Site

Phuong Tien commune, located in the north of Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang, had an average income of $1584 in 2023, significantly lower than Vietnam’s national average of $4284.

The Phuong Tien health clinic, serving 3,080 residents from eight villages, plays a key role in disease prevention, maternal and child healthcare, and medical treatment. It has made notable progress, handling 2,846 medical cases in 2018 and achieving high vaccination rates among children.

However, healthcare access remains hindered by several factors. Many locals, especially from ethnic minorities, rely on traditional medicine like herbal remedies and shamanism, which can delay effective treatment for serious conditions. Additionally, the region’s challenging geography, with poor road infrastructure and hazardous conditions during the rainy season, further limits access to healthcare.

A mobile medical clinic is vital to overcoming these barriers, bringing modern medical services to remote areas, and encouraging the adoption of conventional treatments. This medical project would help bridge the gap in healthcare access caused by geography and traditional beliefs.

YESD Vietnam x Discover Internship: How to Help Us?

YESD and Discover Internships have joined hands for this medical project. This project focuses on bringing medical care to ethnic minority communities in Ha Giang.

The YESynDrome project needs support to continue our mission. One of the biggest needs is funding for medication. Many people in Ha Giang cannot afford medicine. Through this collaboration with Discover Internships, we are raising money for a Medication Fund to provide essential medicines to those in need. So, this is how you can contribute:

  1. Donate to the Discover Interships Fund: Every contribution helps us buy important medicines. You can find out more here!
  2. Spread the Word: Share this project with your friends and family to help raise awareness!

Ha Chiang loop for an old boy

Well what can I say about my Ha Chiang loop trip I did with Yesd. They were excellent from start to finish. As a 54 year old man I did the loop solo with my driver Chinh as I wanted to avoid the happy water and karaoke aspect. Chinh understood this perfectly and took me on a fabulous trip. We took local routes when he could, avoiding some of main routes. He kept ahead of the ‘Mongolian army’ as he called the throngs of other loopers and often arrived at view points before they arrived …

It was a unique experience that allowed me to truly experience sustainable tourism. The activities took place in breathtaking landscapes and gave us the opportunity to learn firsthand about the traditions and lifestyle of the local communities. The team was very attentive and took care of every detail to ensure we enjoyed our stay to the fullest.
Realmente lo recomiendo! es una manera hermosa de descubrir Ha Giang y, al mismo tiempo, contribuir a un turismo responsable.

A memory for life

An amazing experience! Incredible guides! You almost feel privileged compared to other groups. The accommodation is top-notch; the house, the welcome, the meals—everything is perfect. The mountain trek is magical, the motorbike trek is insane (beware of sore bums by the end!), incredible views the whole time, and super enriching stories. It really puts things into perspective compared to our European comforts—it feels great! To conclude this review, thank you again to the entire YESD Travel team; they are truly wonderful people.
