Ha Chiang loop for an old boy
Well what can I say about my Ha Chiang loop trip I did with Yesd. They were excellent from start to finish. As a 54 year old man I did the loop solo with my driver Chinh as I wanted to avoid the happy water and karaoke aspect. Chinh understood this perfectly and took me on a fabulous trip. We took local routes when he could, avoiding some of main routes. He kept ahead of the ‘Mongolian army’ as he called the throngs of other loopers and often arrived at view points before they arrived …

A memory for life
An amazing experience! Incredible guides! You almost feel privileged compared to other groups. The accommodation is top-notch; the house, the welcome, the meals—everything is perfect. The mountain trek is magical, the motorbike trek is insane (beware of sore bums by the end!), incredible views the whole time, and super enriching stories. Q1. Is this Cao Bang tour a private or group tour?
This tour is a private tour which will give you full flexibility to enjoy the way you want. Please be noted that we try to avoid the big crowd to bring you the most authentic experiences. Yes, we offer private tours so you can book our tour as a gift for yourself.
Q3. Can YESD pick me up from the airport or hotel and start the trip?
Yes, of course. With the Ha Giang loop 5 days 4 nights tour, we will start the trip from Hanoi. Therefore, YESD will arrange the pick-up from your hotel in Hanoi. In case you arrive at the airport and want us to pick you up from there and go directly to Ha Giang, it will be possible as well. Please consult with our sales to have the best recommendations.
Q4. Are the driver and the guide the same one?
No, they are different ones. There will be 1 driver and 1 guide escorting you for the whole trip.
Q5. When is the best time to go to Cao Bang?
Cao Bang is a year-round destination, with each season revealing a different side of its natural beauty.
From April to September, Ban Gioc Waterfall reaches its most powerful and impressive flow, creating breathtaking scenery despite occasional rain showers.
The dry season, from October to March, brings cooler temperatures, clear skies, and comfortable conditions for trekking, sightseeing, and exploring.
For photographers, August and September are particularly rewarding, as golden rice terraces blanket the hillsides with stunning autumn colors. In November and December, the region comes alive with blooming buckwheat flowers and wild sunflowers. As spring arrives in March, plum, apricot, and peach blossoms cover the valleys and mountainsides, creating a picturesque setting.
Q6. There are some spots in the itinerary I am not particularly interested in, can I skip them?
Yes of course, we will customize it based on your interest and pace. If you want to spend more time in 1 spot and skip the others, we can do that.
Q7. How difficult is the Cao Bang loop?
The difficulty of the Cao Bang Loop depends on driver’s experience. For occasional riders, it’s a quite challenging route. For beginners, we recommend booking easy rider tours or car tour for safety reason.
Q8. What if I have big suitcases?
It is totally fine because the car will go with you the whole trip so you can bring along your big suitcases.
Q9. Do I need to bring my own towels and toiletries?
In all of your accommodations, clean towels and toiletries will be provided so you do not need to bring your own. However, you might consider to bring your own if you prefer to.
Q10. Is it ok if I am a vegetarian or vegan?
Yes, we cater all kinds of diet. Before you are on your tour, our sales will gather your diet requirement and notify it to the guide and homestay hosts so they will be fully aware of your diet. Ha Giang is still quite not developed yet in terms of tourism facilities so vegetarian or vegan options are mostly local vegetables, tofu, (eggs – in case of vegetarian), beans, potatoes … You will have plenty of them.
Q11. How do I get to Cao Bang?
Taking a bus is one of the most economical ways to get to Cao Bang from Hanoi. There are several bus companies operating the route from Hanoi. If you prefer a more comfortable experience, a private car is highly recommended.
If you travel from Ha Giang, easy riders tours are also available.
Q12. Is the homestay private and ensuite?
With this tour, you will spend your nights in homestays with a bungalow style room, ensuite with local host families. Dinner on the 1st day and 3rd day will be prepared and enjoyed with the host families while the other days will be at local restaurants. Your rooms will provide you with enough comfort and basic facilities. This will help you to experience the local life while still enjoying your comfort.
Q13. Can we stay in hotels instead of homestays?
We highly recommend you to stay in our homestays because its quality is good and you can interact with the local people to better understand their lives, local culture and traditions etc. However, if you want to stay in hotels instead, we can arrange it as well.
Q14. What is the booking process?
You leave a request on our website for the tour that you would like to go and add some specific requests if you might have. Our sales team will return to your request within 24 hours (weekend and holiday might be a bit longer – however, we try to get back to you ASAP) with itinerary and quotation. You can adjust a bit on the itinerary if you would like to, if not, you confirm your booking. We will then ask for your personal information to prepare a full itinerary for you and book your services.The full itinerary with all details of your trips and accommodations will be sent to you via email together with a deposit payment link. A deposit of 30% tour price will be required once you confirm the trip. Once the deposit payment is done, rest assured that all of your services are secured, otherwise, our sales team will notify you. The last payment amount can be paid in cash upon your arrival in Ha Giang.
Q15. How far in advance should I book the tour?
We recommend you to book as soon as you finalise your travelling plan because there are periods when the service is fully booked very fast. To reserve the best services for you, we will need to book well in advance. This will make sure you have the experience exactly as stated.
