Two Days Of Trekking, Riding & Village Life

Start with a village homestay in Thon Tha, spend your first full day trekking through rice fields and ethnic villages, then ride through Quan Ba’s mountain landscapes before returning to Ha Giang.

Pick-up Hanoi – Ha Giang – Thon Tha Village
Hanoi Hotel / Bus Station

Travel from Hanoi to Ha Giang by day bus or night bus. The bus is not included in the package, but YESD can help arrange a suitable option for your schedule.

Thon Tha Village

On arrival, check in at a local homestay in Thon Tha Village and share dinner or breakfast with your hosts before the trekking and riding route begins.

Day 1 Thon Tha – Khuoi My – Lung Vai – Ha Thanh – Thon Tha
Thon Tha Homestay

Begin around 8:00 AM with a local breakfast and meet your local guide before setting out on the trekking route.

Khuoi My and Tay Village Route

Trek through terraced rice fields and Tay villages, with time to meet local people and observe daily life in the Ha Giang countryside.

Lung Vai Village

Arrive at Lung Vai Village, home to Coin Dao people, for a picnic lunch or, when possible, a meal with a Dao family.

Ha Thanh Village

Continue trekking to Ha Thanh Village, known for its waterfall, before heading back toward Thon Tha.

Thon Tha Homestay

Finish the trekking day back at the homestay and enjoy another dinner with your local hosts.

Day 2 Quan Ba – Lung Tam – Lung Khuy Cave – Thon Tha
Quan Ba Mountain Route

Your guide picks you up at the homestay around 8:00 AM. Today’s ride covers about 100 km through mountain scenery, agricultural landscapes, and ethnic villages.

Quan Ba Heaven Gate and Twin Mountain

Travel past some of Quan Ba’s most iconic views, including Heaven Gate and the famous Twin Mountain.

Quan Ba Town

Stop for lunch in Quan Ba before continuing the discovery route by bike.

Lung Tam Linen Cooperative

Visit the women’s weaving cooperative in Lung Tam and see the step-by-step process of making traditional hemp clothing.

Lung Khuy Cave

Continue to Lung Khuy Cave, a recently opened cave reached by a short trek of around 40 minutes.

Ha Giang City / Thon Tha Village

Return to Ha Giang after the cave visit. Your guide drops you off at the homestay, usually around 5:30 PM.

Trekking, Riding, and Bus Conditions

This itinerary includes bus travel between Hanoi and Ha Giang, a 16 km trekking day through village paths and rice fields, a 100 km riding route through Quan Ba, and a short trek to Lung Khuy Cave. Bus tickets are not included, and the route may change or be cancelled due to weather, road, trail, cave, or local safety conditions.

    Most YESD treks are moderate and suitable for healthy travelers. Travelers with blood pressure issues, heart disease, pregnancy, or fever should contact YESD for specific advice.

    What is the best season for trekking in Ha Giang?

    The ideal trekking season is generally from September to May, when the weather is more comfortable. Summer can be more difficult because of humidity and heat, so it is best to ask YESD for advice based on your travel dates.

    How long is the trekking distance?

    The main trekking day on this itinerary is around 16km. YESD may be able to adjust the route depending on your health, interests, and what is possible on the ground.

    What happens if I cannot finish the trek?

    Your guide will check on you during the trek and discuss options if you cannot continue. In some areas, a car or motorbike transfer may be arranged, but extra transport is not included in the tour price and may require an additional payment.

    What should I do with my luggage?

    Bring a small backpack for the trek and daily essentials. Larger luggage can usually be stored at the first homestay in Thon Tha Village while you are out on the route.

    Can YESD support vegetarian or vegan meals?

    Yes. YESD can cater to different diets when informed in advance. Vegetarian and vegan meals in Ha Giang are usually based on local vegetables, tofu, beans, potatoes, and other simple local ingredients.

    How do I get to Ha Giang?

    You can travel from Hanoi to Ha Giang by day bus or night bus, including limousine seating buses or sleeper buses. YESD can help support bus booking, and private transport from Hanoi can also be arranged at an extra charge.

    What is the booking process?

    Send your request through the website with your preferred date and any special needs. YESD will reply with the itinerary and quotation. After confirmation, a deposit is required to secure the services, with the remaining payment usually paid on arrival in Ha Giang.
