TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1: Hanoi - hoa binh - tea tasting in sung hamlet

We departed from Hanoi at 7 a.m, it took us around 3 hours to reach Sung hamlets by car. Once we arrived, we sat down beside the wood stove to brew some tea at Mr Lam’s house, which is right next to the hamlet’s school and is favored with the most stunning view.We sat on a hammock chair, leaning back and leisurely drinking tea while peacefully watching the terraced fields. The views seemed endless, they were filled with energy yet so peaceful and quiet. There was a strange harmony between the energy of nature and the people here. Mr. Lam said that sometimes when there were cloudfalls, he was just sitting here, leisurely watching the clouds drift by. He loved to sit on the hammock chair on the porch drinking tea, and even unconsciously falling asleep on it at night. During the tea session, we drank tea made from ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees growing on Sung mountain and Tua Chua area of Dien Bien. At first, we drank green tea from ancient tea trees from Sung mountain, the taste was very pure and elegant. When drinking tea, there was a gentle stream of pure energy flowing from above, into the top of the head, down to the forehead and then down to the body. This stream of energy was filled with a loving feeling. My Western friends were all longing for that feeling, demanding to buy all the tea at a really good price. Next, we drank sheng Pu-erh tea, also made from ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees on Sung mountain. With raw pu-erh, the energy was clearer and more coherent than green tea. These two types of tea were like means of connection between nature and people, helping the two forces empathize with each other more, creating an inseparable attachment. After tasting tea from the Sung hamlet, we drank more Pu-erh tea made from the most ancient tea trees from Sin Chai, Tua Chua and Dien Bien. The tea bears the aroma of sunshine and orchids. The essence is strong and full. The resonance from the two previous ones and this pu-erh tea brought a deeply and fully peaceful feeling to the soul.In the late afternoon, you can leisurely stroll around the hamlet and visit its craft sites. In the evening, if the moon is bright, you can spread out a tarp, sitting and drinking tea in the school yard to watch the moon. If there is no moon or it is raining, meditating or drinking tea under the front porch of Mr. Lam’s house is an interesting alternative activity to spend the night.
